Ankaragucu vs Adana Demirspor match preview!

The last game of the first half of the season is almost upon us as Ankaragucu travel to Adana on Saturday afternoon knowing no matter what the result they will go into the break as league leaders. It’s true what they say, time flys by when your having fun! Who would have believed that Ankaragücü would be sitting top of the table after the start we had to the campaign where fans were asking for the dismissal of manager İsmail Kartal and questioning the quality of player coming in.

Fast forward 4 months and Ankaragucu have won 9 and drawn 2 of their last 11 games while İsmail Kartal has become something of a fans favourte and deservedly so. It’s no luck with Kartal, he is a very hard working and forward thinking coach who seems to have learned from some of the mistakes he had at Gaziantepspor and Fenerbahce and has implemented his methods which have formed a hard working. Solid team who have a winning mentality.

It’s taken the likes of Sedat Agcay, Ilhan Parlak, Erdem Ozgenc, Arif Morkaya time to settle in but they are now all fully fit and showing why Kartal brought them to the club with all playing vital roles. Sedat and Arif do all the dirty work which allows the brilliant Putsila to work his magic further up the pitch creating for the likes of Umut and Ilhan.

Ankaragucu are expected to keep with the same team that beat Manisaspor 3-0 at the weekend which was another good performance despite a poor start to the game. The left back position is the main area of concern going into the transfer window and I would like to think İsmail Kartal will address the situation if the club finds a way to lift the transfer ban.

The good news for th club is that Tonia Tisdell is back in full training and will be available for selection along with Kibong Mbamba and Nduka Ozokwu after the break.

Adana Demirspor are one of the leagues best supported clubs with a great following but unfortunately the fans are dropping in their numbers in protest against the way the club has been run and performances on the pitch. They haven’t won in their last 9 games and are only 1 place outside of the relegation zone.

They do have 23 year old Cameroonian striker Robert Ndip Tambe who has had a good season so far with 7 goals in 10 games and he will again be the key player along with former Genclerbirligi forward Atabay Cicek.

Title rivals Umraniyespor host Samsunspor at the weekend while Rizespor have a tough match against Gazisehir. Ankaragucu will be in a good position with a win at the weekend and the players can enjoy a well earned break.

In other news, Ankaragucu last week completed the signing of 19 year old Liberian youngster Jerryson Faithboy Wullie who joined fellow countrymen Tonia Tisdell and Moses Cooper at the club. Both Cooper and Wullie will play for ththe U19 squad.

  1. Nice preview with lots of optimism from Nadeem. However, who needs Eski's optimism pills this season ??!!

I must say that Demirspor have been a surprise package this season after two good seasons previously when they made the play-offs and were playing almost as good as Adanaspor. It will be interesting to see if they fold if Ankaragucu can grab an early goal.

Not that I'm 'counting my chickens' because most teams coming to Ankara to play in front of an almost capacity stadium generally raise their game. But, with Ilhan now firing on all cylinders alongside Umut, I can't see anything other than an Ankaragucu win. Putsila and Kenan to supply the ammo !!!

Looking forward to meeting up with our Gencler kankas at the Alerta on Saturday, and ........ dare I say this ........ looking for a win against our brother team Booooorrrrssaaa ??!!

  2. Adana Demirspor are a club like Ankaragucu who if it were based on support should be in the Super Lig, Samsunspor are another. Unfortunately financial problems see them stuck in this league.

Goztepe are enjoying a fantastic season in the Super Lig and their stadium is sold out every other week. Ankaragucu will be the same when we are back. Ismail Kartal must keep the players focused and not get carried away. It will be interesting to see how the transfer window goes in January.
